Metric Cards & KPI Dashboard
Plugio Metric Cards lets you build a customizable KPI dashboard inside monday.com. Add multiple metric cards — each backed by a board query — and arrange them in a drag-and-drop grid. 6 card types let you answer different questions at a glance: totals, trends, ratios, progress, distributions, and item lists.

- 5 Click Save — your dashboard updates instantly.
Card Types
Each card represents one metric. Pick the type that best matches what you want to communicate:
Trend Card
Displays a metric with a sparkline chart and automatic period-over-period delta (▲ 23%). Best for spotting direction at a glance.
Basic Card
A single large number — no frills. Ideal for headline KPIs like "Total Customers" or "Active Projects" where the count itself is the story.
Progress Card
Current value vs. a target, rendered as a progress bar with a percentage badge. Target can be a fixed number or dynamically pulled from another board column.
Ratio Card
Two metrics side by side — "A vs B" — with a tug-of-war bar showing their relative share. Great for comparing completed vs. pending, or any two filtered counts.
Distribution Card
Breaks a metric down by a categorical column (Status, Dropdown, etc.) and visualizes the breakdown as a donut chart with a color-coded legend.
List Card
A filtered, sorted list of items from your board. Click any row to open the item directly in monday.com. Supports 6 row layout presets with Visual, Detail, and Badge slots.
List Card Row Layouts
The List Card supports 6 preset row layouts that can display combinations of the following data slots:
- Primary: The item name or any text/numeric column.
- Visual: A Status color dot or People avatar initials.
- Detail: A secondary line of text below the primary value.
- Badge: A compact tag shown at the end of the row.
Data & Filters
Every card is powered by real-time data from the monday.com boards connected to your dashboard. No external calls — data is fetched directly within your monday.com instance.
Connecting a Board
In the Card Config tab, select a board from the list of boards connected to your dashboard. The widget automatically loads all available columns for that board.
Metric Operations
Choose how the widget aggregates your board data:
| Operation | What it returns | Supported column types |
|---|---|---|
| Count | Number of matching items | Any (no column needed) |
| Sum | Total of a numeric column | Numbers, Rating, Time Tracking |
| Average | Mean value of a numeric column | Numbers, Rating, Time Tracking |
| Min | Smallest value in the column | Numbers, Rating, Time Tracking |
| Max | Largest value in the column | Numbers, Rating, Time Tracking |
Filters
Each card supports fine-grained item filtering. Filters can target any of the following column types:
- Status / Dropdown: Filter by specific label values (any of / not any of).
- Numbers: Range filters — between, greater than, less than.
- Date / Timeline: Date range filtering.
- Text / Long Text: Contains or does not contain a string.
- People / Multiple Person: Filter by team member.
- Checkbox, Rating, Email, Phone, Link, Time Tracking
- Group: Restrict the card to specific board groups.
Multiple filters can be combined with AND or OR logic.
Dashboard Filter Integration
Metric Cards automatically responds to monday.com's native dashboard filters. When a viewer applies a filter at the dashboard level, all cards update to reflect only the matching items — no extra configuration needed.
Group Filter
In the Card Config, you can optionally restrict a card to one or more specific board groups, allowing multiple cards to show data from different groups of the same board side by side.
Period Comparison
A global Period Picker at the top of the widget controls the time window for all cards. Trend cards use it to define their X-axis buckets; other card types use it to filter items by a date column and compute a previous-period delta.
Period Presets
- This Week / Last Week
- This Month / Last Month
- This Quarter / Last Quarter
- This Year / Last Year
- Last 7 / 30 / 90 / 365 days
- Custom date range
Trend Granularity
Trend cards can bucket data by Day, Week, Month, Quarter, or Year. The sparkline reflects the chosen granularity, and the previous period is automatically calculated and shown as a comparison value below the current total.
Layout & Appearance
Drag & Drop Grid
Cards are arranged on a fixed N×M grid (configurable in the Appearance tab). In edit mode, drag any card to a different grid position. The widget prevents overlapping placements automatically.
Card Sizes
Most card types occupy a single grid cell. List and Distribution cards default to 2 columns wide; List cards are also 2 rows tall to accommodate multiple items.
Card Height
Choose between Normal (compact) and Large card heights from the Appearance tab — applied globally to all cards in the widget.
Card Colors
Each card has an individually assignable color that appears as a left border accent. Colors also tint certain elements within the card (progress bars, ratio fills, etc.).
Number Format
Switch between Compact (14.3K, 2.1M) and Full (14,312) number display globally across all cards.
Theme Support
The widget adapts automatically to your monday.com dashboard theme — Light, Dark, Black, and Hacker themes are all fully supported.
FAQ
Does my data leave monday.com?
No. The widget operates entirely within the monday.com platform using the monday.com Apps SDK. All data fetching and processing happens inside your monday.com instance. We never store, collect, or transmit your board data.
Which column types can be used as a metric?
Count works on any board without selecting a column. Sum, Average, Min, and Max require a Numbers, Rating, or Time Tracking column.
Can I show data from multiple boards?
Yes — each card can connect to a different board independently. All boards connected to your dashboard are available in the board selector.
What happens when dashboard filters are applied?
All cards automatically update to reflect only the items matching the active dashboard filter. This works seamlessly with monday.com's native filter widgets.
Can view-only users see the widget?
Yes. View-only users see the configured cards without the Configure button. The data is fetched using their permissions, so they only see boards they have access to.
How many cards can I add?
There is no hard limit — you can add as many cards as fit in your grid. The default grid is 4×4 (16 slots), which you can expand up to any size in the Appearance tab.
