Gauge & Counter Documentation
Welcome to the Plugio Gauge documentation. This guide will help you set up and customize your Jira Dashboard gadgets to visualize your data effectively.
Getting Started
Follow these simple steps to add your first gadget to a Jira Dashboard:
- 1 Open any Jira Dashboard and click Add Gadget.
- 2 Search for "Plugio Gauge" and click Add.
- 3 On the gadget, click the three dots (...) and select Configure.
- 4 Use the live preview editor to choose your visualization type and connect your data.
Visualization Types
Plugio Gauge offers three professional-grade visualization components:
1. Radial Gauge
Perfect for tracking KPIs against ranges. Ideal for Sprint Velocity, SLA compliance, or health metrics.
2. Progress Bar
Best for visualizing completion status. You can add multiple series and target lines to track milestones like "Backend Completion" vs. "Frontend Completion".
3. Numeric Counter
Designed for high-impact numbers. Use this to highlight critical metrics like "Open Critical Bugs" or "Total Story Points in Backlog".
Data Sources & JQL
Your gadgets are powered by real-time Jira data. You have two ways to connect your data:
Standard JQL
Enter any valid Jira Query Language (JQL) string. The gadget will automatically count the results or sum the fields you specify.
Saved Filters
Select any filter you have already saved in Jira. This makes it easy to reuse complex logic across multiple dashboards.
Metrics & Measures
- Issue Count: Displays the total number of issues returned by the query.
- Numeric Sum: Sums up values in a specific field (e.g., Story Points, Time Spent, or any custom numeric field).
- Percentage Mode: Compare a numerator query against a denominator query to show a percentage (e.g., Resolved Issues vs. Total Issues).
Advanced Features
Dynamic Thresholds
Define custom color ranges (Green, Yellow, Red) for your Gauges. This provides immediate visual context for your metrics (e.g., Red if bugs > 20).
Target Lines
Add vertical markers to your Progress Bars to show goals, budgets, or historical averages. Perfect for tracking "Current Progress" vs. "Sprint Target".
Styling & Color Palettes
Choose from curated color templates or define your own. The gadgets support both Jira Light and Dark modes automatically.
FAQ
Does my data leave Jira?
No. Plugio is a Forge-based app. All data fetching and processing happens entirely within your own Atlassian Cloud instance. We never store or transmit your Jira data.
Can I use custom fields?
Yes. Any standard or custom numeric field (number, currency, time spent) can be used for summation metrics.
